My interest in birds goes back to my memories wandering down steep lanes in Cornwall on family holidays and that interest has stayed with me all my life, fed by the bird-rich habitats of my adopted home of Norfolk.
Pastel has become my preferred medium, with occasional forays into other mediums, while placing birds into their natural habitats is my predominant aim.
Early artistic influences came from my school art teacher, a great grandson of the equestrian artist J.F. Herring and from him grew my love of a naturalistic approach: more recently Peter Partington has helped re-focus my bird painting style to what I am striving to achieve today, while my love for painting the Norfolk landscape came from studying watercolour with the Norfolk artist John Insall.
